Getting Ready for the New Season

Another season is upon us next week, and the website is ticking away in the background, ready to accept new postings and scores.

Some New Features
A number of teams have been concerned that the League fixtures were not available on-line.  I don't know what is the problem was, but it has now been fixed.  Whilst the problem existed, I extended our website so that it too can cover all fixtures (incl. Junior) for the League.  This gave an added bonus, however,  that the database behind stayley.org now accepts all scores from all teams.  If your club is interested in getting involved with our scores system, please contact our club via the website.

Next was the Twitter feed.
An age-old problem was getting scores to and from the cricket club, especially when a reporter wasn't available to cover away matches.  Stayley.org now has a twitter account (#StayleyScores) where you may forward scores to the website. Not got a twitter account?  Don't worry, texts can be sent to me (captains and scorers have my number) and I can 'tweet' the message for you.  See our project page for more details  Again, the database has been extended to cover all clubs - so all teams can use this feature!

Finally, these blogs
This part is very much 'Under Construction' and relies on User-Feedback.  Google Blogger is used to create a web-space for images and comment.  At the moment, a couple of ideas for this technology spring to mind: Match Reports (this blog) and User Guides for using our website (the other blog).  There may be other purposes in mind, such as cricketing videos (under construction) and clubhouse events.  But before we get carried away with all the fancy stuff, let's get these reviews on-line.  Trials are at an early stage at present, but if you are interested please contact the club.
